About me. My story, background and inspiration
I believe the path to healing requires we remain open and compassionate towards ourselves.
I trust we own the resources to live a mindful and complete life, regardless of the stories we learned to tell ourselves in order to ensure our survival. We are whole and everything else that follows is part of regaining our connection to a balanced, equal Self.
Background
I was born and raised in the '90s Bucharest landscape of much-awaited liberation from the communist regime. My parents, an economist and an engineer, offered me the benefit of freely exploring what I want "to become". I have been blessed with the gift of firmly and undoubtedly knowing what I want to pursue, both personally and professionally.
Therefore, I decided to grow in between art and psychology, following my gut instinct and acknowledging that the journey may not always be a serene one, but clearly something I needed to embrace. And so I did.
Psychotherapy
As a psychotherapist, I have a double major in Psychology and Educational Sciences, with a final paper on art therapy with teenagers, followed by an M.A. in Experiential Psychotherapy. Later on, my area of expertise focused on trauma and stress disorders, using EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and art therapy as tools of exploration and intervention. Read more about how I work and the type of problems I specialize in here. At the intersection of these two, I continuously strive to find authenticity in what I do by allowing myself to trust my physical and emotional body.
My primary interest is in the creative expression of the self as a means of developing resilience and well-being. I find value in working with people from different backgrounds and ages, discovering that my identity as a practitioner will always lie at the crossroads of art and psychology. Along the way, I learned to practice acceptance and compassion through yoga and mindfulness - both essential tools that help me keep a quiet mind and an open heart.
Art
As an artist, I studied painting and drawing in the intimacy of a Romanian artist's studio who became my mentor and provided me with the means to explore my creative ritual of passage, which, to this day, is still one of my main focuses. Since I was 16 and until now, my creative interests have significantly expanded, and my latest art project finds performance as a medium of expression. You can read more about it here.
I look forward to hearing your story!
